Approach

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

What it is: CBT is a structured, skills-based therapy that helps change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours to improve how you feel.
What to expect: Sessions are goal-focused and practical. You and we will identify patterns that keep problems going. You will learn tools to challenge thoughts and test new behaviours. Practice between sessions is common and progress is tracked over time.

Act and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

What it is: ACT helps you build psychological flexibility by accepting inner experiences and acting in line with your values.
What to expect: Sessions include mindfulness and values clarification. You learn to relate differently to difficult thoughts rather than trying to eliminate them. The focus is on meaningful action. Exercises are experiential and practical. Change is measured by how life expands, not symptom control alone.

Schema Therapy

What it is: Schema therapy addresses long-standing patterns rooted in early emotional experiences.
What to expect: Therapy explores recurring themes in relationships and self-image. Emotional, cognitive, and relational methods are used. The pace is steady and supportive. Sessions may feel deeper and more reflective. The goal is lasting change, not quick symptom relief.

Emotion Focused

What it is: EFT helps people understand and transform emotions as a path to change.
What to expect: Sessions focus on identifying emotional patterns in the moment. The therapist guides emotional exploration safely. New emotional experiences are developed. Insight and emotional relief often occur together. Change comes from emotional processing, not advice-giving.

EMDR

What it is: EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing or traumatic memories.
What to expect: Treatment follows a clear, 8-phased structure. Bilateral stimulation is used while briefly focusing on memory elements. Talking is present but not central. Emotional intensity typically decreases over time. Sessions emphasize safety and stabilization. Although this approach is frequently promoted as ‘relatively fast’ it is important to note that eight (8) sessions is typically the minimum and the total number of sessions will depend on the complexity of the ‘target’ issue.
